Tips for the Buyer
A large sanitary (PVC) pipe runs down the outside of the home, in the back, along the fire escape in the adjoining alley. It can be opened at the bottom sleeve. We recommend that you have Roto-Rooter come in once every 2-3 years to ensure the underground draining pipes are kept clear from the house to the street. In addition, keep the grated drain covering in the back of the alleyway clear of leaves. This is a normal maintenance procedure for these brownstone homes in the area, since gutter systems drain to access in the alleyways. Typical procedure costs $300 every 2-3 years.
